Yeratta Creek
Destination Details
Yeratta is located at a distance of 8 kilometers from Rangati. It has abundant mangrove life. Rangat Jetty is located in Yerrata and is known as Yerrata Jetty. It is a great place to observe and study different species of mangrove trees. As an initiative to create awareness among the public and tourists about mangroves, the Department of Environment and Forests has set up a Mangrove Interpretation Center with attractive display panels depicting the various species of mangroves found in these islands. A watchtower was erected in Yeratta, the top of which offers a panoramic view of the mangroves and adjacent tropical forests. This 13 meter high tower is the only one of its kind in the whole Island A and N with such a view of the mangroves. Although this tower was not in good shape during our last visit. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Yeratta's mangrove corridor is beautiful and you can even see mangroves being harvested at Rangatin Yeratta. Dhanninalah mangrove road is much better and bigger than Yeratta Creek. Yeratta Creek is mostly visited for the breakwater. You can take a government ferry to Long Island from this Rangati pier. So if you are not planning to visit Long Island, you can skip visiting this place and cover other best places in Rangat.
Among the attractions on Rangati Island, Yeratta Creek stands out as a lesser known gem. Visiting this stream is like stepping back in time, where nature remains calm and the world seems to slow down. The creek is surrounded by lush mangrove forests, giving visitors a close-up view of this unique and important ecosystem. A green canopy and gently flowing water create an exciting and peaceful environment. For avid bird watchers, the creek offers many opportunities. With patience and a keen eye, you can spot a variety of local and migratory birds. There is also a tower almost 13 meters high with a panoramic view of the mangrove forest.
