Marina Park
Destination Details
Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is a dreamy paradise in the Andaman Islands. Located in Wandoor Village, this park is home to 15 charming islands that are home to exotic sea creatures. The Marine National Park was established on May 24, 1983 under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 to protect marine life common in the area. The park includes peaceful beaches, coral reefs, lush mangroves, rainforests, and lagoons that give it an aesthetic and covers an area of ??281 square kilometers.
The most beautiful aspect of Marina Park is that it is next to the sea. You'll be able to enjoy both the panoramic ocean views with the waves lapping at your feet and the amusements of the park. In the park, there are many children's toys installed such as swings, slides, etc. The oceanfront stand on the pedestrian walkway in the marina park is well worth admiring in the evening with all the street lights on either side. Lots of street vendors will be there, they sell Jhalmoori, gol-gappa etc. Ross Island can be seen from here. Marina Park does not charge an entrance fee. Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park is a national park in India located near Wandoor on the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the Southern Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian federal territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The park was established on May 24, 1983 under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 to protect marine life such as corals and nesting sea turtles that prevailed in the area. It is placed under the protection of the Director of Wildlife of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Forest Service and the open streams that run through the park area are a particular attraction. There are two main groups of islands in the national park:
The Maze Islands and the Twin Islands are located 16 km (10 mi) south of Port Blair. The marine park stretches over 281.5 square kilometers made up of 17 islands and vast bays that run through the area. There are ecotourism opportunities on Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island. The islands belong to the Rutland Islands and are located between Rutland Island and South Andaman Island. Most of the reefs in the park are rim reefs. The type and composition of vegetation varies from island to island. In particular, we noticed a difference between tourist islands that are undergoing more human-centered changes and others that are not. There are also some islands that are more isolated or protected from the effects of weather than in the Bay of Bengal. Tarmugli, the largest island, is covered with dense mangrove vegetation, sandy beaches, uprooted trees and rocks. Twins are an important breeding ground for turtles in the park. The children's traffic park here is an impressive concept, designed to recreate a real busy intersection with traffic lights and roads. Small tricycles, kids motorbikes and exercise bikes are available to rent for kids to cycle around. The nearby Marine Aquarium managed by the Department of Fisheries is a small aquarium-museum displaying marine life found on the island. Travel smart by combining a visit to Marina Park with a visit to these nearby places.
